A total of 22 Malaysian students in Egypt were successfully brought home today via a relief mission by non-governmental organisation Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (ISMA) and Maghfirah Foundation.

The initiative dubbed 'Aku Ingin Pulang: Misi Kasih Pelajar Mesir' (I Want to Return Home: Egypt Student Mission) is a relief fund campaign to cover the partial costs of airline tickets of underprivileged students who can't afford to return home due to COVID-19.

Campaign director Mohd Noor Azib Asmangi said that all 22 students had arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 12.30 pm today.

"These students have taken the rapid test (COVID-19) before boarding the flight (in Egypt) and went through the second test at KLIA upon arrival today," he said in a statement here, today.

According to Mohd Noor Azib, another 80 students will be brought back to Malaysia after they finish their final exams at their respective universities next month.

"We still need funds to bring more students home and we welcome any financial contribution from companies and the public to make this mission a success," he said.

Members of the public who wish to contribute can channel their contributions to the Maghfirah Foundation via its Maybank (Account No: 562263552802) or CIMB (Account No: 8603221427) bank accounts.
