Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) has suspended an employee on suspicion of having been involved in a sabotage that disrupted water supply to 340,000 consumers in the Klang and Petaling districts on Sept 1.

Air Selangor CEO Suhaimi Kamaralzaman said on Thursday that the employee was suspended on Sept 6 and a police report was lodged on the sabotage on Sept 9.

The report of an investigation was also handed over to the National Water Services Commission (SPAN).

"The water disruption affected more than 39,000 accounts in 24 areas in Klang and 29,000 accounts in 27 areas in Petaling, particularly in the Sime UEP area," he said in a statement. Normal water supply was restored on Sept 2, he said.

Suhaimi said Air Selangor would not hesitate to take disciplinary action or sack any employee involved in sabotage.

He gave the assurance that Air Selangor would ensure that such an incident did not recur. -- Bernama
