KUALA LUMPUR:The proposal that UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) consider Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the next Prime Minister, was confirmed to have been raised by a Member of Parliament who participated in a meeting with BN Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today.

A source told Astro AWANI that Sembrong Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein was among those who opposed the proposal.

"He (Hishammuddin) insisted on his stand and rejected that UMNO and BN support Anwar," the source said briefly.

Meanwhile, Kuala Kangsar Member of Parliament, Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid in his latest Facebook post said, she is an UMNO person who adheres to the struggle of AaBaTa (Religion, Race, and Homeland) which has been the party's principle all this while.

"For the sake of this struggle, I will not support DSAI (Anwar Ibrahim) and DAP," she wrote briefly.

Earlier, Astro AWANI reported that some BN MPs raised the proposal for Anwar to be supported as Prime Minister, revealed one of those who participated in the meeting with Ahmad Zahid on Monday.

However, the source said, if there is any discussion with the Chairman of Pakatan Harapan, it should not involve DAP's participation at all.

According to the source, UMNO and BN still adhere to the principle of "No DAP" if they want to find a way out of the political crisis that is plaguing the country at this time.

When asked to comment on the identity of the Member of Parliament, Mastura said the media needs to get an explanation from the individual himself.

"Need to ask the individual. The UMNO Supreme Council meeting tonight is very important. My stance is that I do not support DSAI (Anwar Ibrahim) and I do not support DAP.

Asked if the individual was a senior BN leader, Mastura said: “I'm sorry. I cannot name the individual in respecting the secrecy of today's meeting. "
