The BrandLaureate Nation Building Icon Leadership Award - Game Changer Icon given to Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir was based on his achievements as a state leader.

The BrandLaureate president, Dr KK Johan said the award was given to Zambry also for his contributions to the growth and development of Perak and Malaysia as well.

"We like to reiterate that The BrandLaureate Awards cannot be bought and the individuals are awarded based on their merits and achievements," he said in a statement, here, last night.

The statement was made to address the allegation made by Perak Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) chairman, Asmuni Awi at a press conference, here, Tuesday that Zambry had made some payment to The BrandLaureate in order to get the prestigious award on Aug 28.

Johan said the allegation made by Asmuni was tantamount to insulting and defaming The BrandLaureate Awards and demanded an apology over this.

"Otherwise, we reserve our legal rights to claim damages on our reputation and integrity," he said.

Johan noted that many outstanding personalities around the world had been given the prestigious awards based on their outstanding contributions in their respective fields.
