Mohd Rozi said a lax security system had prompted the thieves to enter the offices.
Burglars broke into two government offices at the Home Ministry building in Anak Bukit here at about midnight last night and took almost RM2,000 cash, according to police.
Kota Setar Police chief ACP Mohd Rozi Jidin said today the thieves entered the office of the Kedah Immigration Department and, finding nothing of value, broke into the office of the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry where they took the money.
The burglary was realised by the staff of the two offices when they reported for work this morning, he said.
"We found some fingerprints in the two offices and are trying to trace the suspects," he said.
Mohd Rozi said a lax security system had prompted the thieves to enter the offices.
