Businesswoman burnt to death in Penang car crash

A businesswoman was burnt to death when the car she was driving, skidded and crashed into a concrete divider before bursting into flames in Jalan Lama Bukit Tengah here early today.
Tan Meng Ai, 42, from Tanjung Piandang, Perak died on the spot in the 2am crash. She sustained over 80 per cent burns.
Central Seberang Perai police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the accident occurred when Tan, who was travelling alone from Bukit Tengah to Jalan Baru, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the concrete divider in the middle of the road.
"Subsequently, the car veered to the opposite lane before it burst into flames. The victim who was pinned to the seat, died at the scene," he said here.
The body was sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital.
