Fifty-two individuals have been charged for abusing emergency lane, while seven arrest warrants have been issued for the same offence as at Monday.
Road Transport Department (RTD) Enforcement Division Director Datuk V. Valluvan said another 2,470 drivers would be charged beginning next month for the same offence.
Members of the public who lodged reports with photographs of the offenders had helped the department a lot in taking legal action, he said while describing such cooperation as very effective.
"I appreciate and thank all of them who took the initiative to send the photographs to us," he told a press conference here Wednesday.
Valluvan said the RTD had received 138 complaints with snapshots of the offence during the week-long holiday in conjunction with Aidiladha and Malaysia Day celebration recently.
He also called on the public to submit the snapshots of other traffic offences to aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my.
