Family offers RM18,000 reward to find missing Malaysian hiker

A private reward of Nepalese Rupee 500,000 (about RM18,000) has been offered by the family of Dennis Lee Thian Poh, the Malaysian hiker who is reported missing in Nepal.
The reward, which has been relayed through the local media in Nepal, is offered to any individual or groups that could assist in finding Lee, a 48-year-old businessman, who went missing on April 5.
In a statement today, the Malaysian Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Malaysian Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal said they have been in close contact with Nepali authorities to assist in the search and rescue (SAR) operation for Lee.
The statement said, in meetings with Nepali authorities, the Malaysian Embassy in Kathmandu has been assured of their fullest cooperation and support in the efforts to find Lee.

It was previously reported that Nepalese army and police personnel aided by sniffer dogs had joined the SAR operation.
On April 5, Lee had joined eight colleagues from the Philippines to scale the Annapurna circuit in Nepal.
The group only became aware of his disappearance at the Khopra Danda Track in Ghorepani area on Sunday, on the first day of their circuit climb.
