Former IGP Tan Sri Bakri Omar dies of cancer

Former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Bakri Omar died at the National Cancer Institute, Putrajaya, at about 8.45 am today due to cancer.
He was 66-years-old.
Assistant chief at the Inspector-General of Police Secretariat (Corporate Communications), ACP Asmawati Ahmad, confirmed this when contacted by Bernama.
Mohd Bakri, born on Sept 10, 1948, in Manjung, Perak, joined the police force as Cadet Assistant Superintendent on Jan 1, 1971.
He served as Inspector-General of Police from Nov 5, 2003 to Sept 2006, replacing Tan Sri Norian Mai, who retired.
His body would be taken to his residence at No 10, Jalan Aman Perdana 5U/KU5, Taman Aman Perdana, Meru, Klang, for funeral arrangements.
