A 13-year-old girl was burnt to death when a shophouse in Kampung Nam Dam, Jalan Sungai Tiang, Pendang, was destroyed in a fire at 7.20pm, last night.
A Kedah Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the victim was known as Wan Puteri Siti Aishah Wan Fahmi.
He said two fire trucks from the Kuala Nerang and Jalan Raja 1 stations were sent with 11 men to fight the fire.
"When the team arrived at the location at 8.02pm, the fire had been put out and the shophouse was totally burnt down," he said.
Fire fighters who conducted a check of the premises found the victim's body in the burnt house at 8.10pm.
