Police have arrested the driver of a Grab service who allegedly raped a woman passenger in his car at Bandar Putra Permai, Seri Kembangan, yesterday.
Serdang Police chief ACP Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said the 30-year-old man was picked up at 10 pm yesterday in Sungai Buloh in a police operation by a team from the Serious Crimes Division of the Serdang Police headquarters.
He said the man allegedly raped the 29-year-old woman, who was in a state of drunkenness, at about 4 am after she had hailed the service and then sent her to her house.
"The police have seized the suspect's Myvi car and his clothes," he said in a statement here today.
Megat Mohamad Aminuddin said the suspect was being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum jail term of 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
