KUALA LUMPUR: The police have arrested a man allegedly shown in a viral video making his two-and-a-half-year-old son vape on Sunday (May 2).

Gombak police chief ACP Arifai Tarawe said the 23 -year -old man was arrested in Setapak yesterday.

He said staff from the Social Welfare Department and the police had gone to a house in Kampung Baru Air Panas, here to rescue the child and his mother at 4.50 pm yesterday.

“Both of them (mother and child) were taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a medical examination and they were admitted to the ward at the hospital.

"Early investigations found that the incident took place on Sunday at Taman Sahabat Jaya, Batu Caves, here," he said in a statement today.

Arifai said the man would be placed under remand for seven days from tomorrow to assist in the investigation under Section 31 (1) (a) of the Child Act 2001.

The recent video of a man making his toddler son vape had gone viral on social media, drawing much criticism from netizens.
