Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said he welcomes complaints on bribery among the state's civil servants and together with the complainants will submit the reports to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for further action.
However, he stressed that the complaints should come with substantial evidence, including details on the persons involved, the amounts and locations where the offences were committed.
"If any official in the Chief Minister's Department throughout the state is involved in bribery, please include the evidence, location, as well as the complete and accurate amount involved. Let us report these offences to MACC as we do not want such officers in the state administration.
"Let us shun corruption and reject those involved in its practice...those who abuse power through posts held. However, there are some cases which involve accusations made towards officers who are not related to the posts involved," he said in his winding up speech during the Melaka state Legislative Assembly sitting in Ayer Keroh, here Wednesday.
The Speaker Datuk Othman Mohamad then adjourned the assembly sine die.
When met by reporters after the assembly, Idris emphasised the importance of providing substantial and accurate proof for graft accusations made against the state''s civil servant to avoid committing slander.
