North Korean company had no business dealing with Malaysia - IGP

North Korean company International Global Services Sdn Bhd, had never dealt in military equipment business in the country despite reports that it had participated in Defence Services Asia (DSA) exhibition and conferences in the country.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said this puts to rest talks that dealings were done with the country previously on military products.

"They did not sell even one military equipment although they had tried to market their military communication product but it was not successful," he said this in a press conference after attending a Criminal Intelligence Unit meeting today.

Explaining further, he said Glocom is not the name of a company but a product developed by North Korea.

He said in 2005, several North Koreans and Malaysians had set up International Global Sdn Bhd company in Kuala Lumpur.

The company had tried to market its products to the Malaysian Armed Forces and the police, but were unsuccessful.

Then, in 2012 the company was closed down and another company was opened under the name International Global Services Sdn Bhd, to market the same products.

"In 2012, 2014, 2015, the company had participated in DSA but later decided to close down their business as there were no transaction," Khalid said.

He said in 2015, one of the directors from Malaysia had applied to close the company but it was not agreed and signed by the North Korean share holders.
