Two advisory panels of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission have found nothing dubious about the Attorney-General's decision to clear Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in three MACC investigations.
The Operations Evaluation Panel (PPO) and a newly appointed special panel, at their meetings in Putrajaya today, accepted the decision of Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali, said MACC Anti-Corruption Advisory Board member Tan Sri Musa Hassan.
Musa, who attended both meetings, said they accepted Mohamed Apandi's decision that cleared Najib of any wrongdoing in relation to a personal donation from the Saudi royal family and cases involving SRC International Sdn Bhd.
He said the two panels would meet the AG for details so as to enable them to better explain the matter to the people.
"No, there are no doubts about the cases. We have decided to meet the AG for a more elaborate explanation," he told Bernama when contacted.
"It is important for the panels to get the explanation from him so that we can make the people understand why there was no need for any prosecution," he said.
The MACC had said in a statement yesterday that it would refer the AG's decision to the two panels for evaluation and consideration. This is standard procedure for closing any MACC case.
