Number of flood victims in Perak rises

The number of flood victims in Perak increased slightly to 392 from 114 families this morning compared with 375 yesterday, forcing another flood relief centre to be opened.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Yahya Madis said the latest count comprised 27 people from 10 families in Ladang Eow Seng and Kampung Tersusun Tali Air Lima who were housed at SJK (T) Simpang Lima.
The other victims housed at SK Bukit Merah are from Lebai Kadir, Mat Keling, Air Hitam Dua, Simpang Empat and Simpang Lima in Bagan Serai.
"Meanwhile, 139 victims from 42 families from Batu 38, Batu 40, Kampung Beriah, Parit Abu Hassan and Kampung Ali Kalang in Bagan Serai are also staying at SK Bukit Merah," he said when contacted today.
He said 139 flood victims from Kampung Permatang Tengah, Parit Air Hitam Tengah remained at SK Changkat Lobak.
According to Yahya, 54 flood victims from Hilir Perak, namely from Kampung Mesra Batu 7, Changkat Jong, Teluk Intan, Kampung Lorong Mesra, Batu 9 and Kampung Lorong have been evacuated to Sekolah Kebangsaan Changkat Jong, Teluk Intan.
