AMONG the headlines for Tuesday, September 21, 2021, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said starting from September 23, between 9 am and 12 pm, vaccination will be carried out for all students aged between 16 and 17 years old without comorbidities.
The National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme for students with permanent addresses from Penang but studying in boarding schools outside of the state, will begin at six vaccination centres.
Also, authorities in Southeast Asia are called to act swiftly to stop smugglers getting back in business once border controls are eased, after a drastic reduction in wildlife trafficking during the pandemic.
According to a forthcoming UN report, traffickers’ networks were halted as countries closed their borders and tightened surveillance when the coronavirus struck last year.
