QUALITY education should be provided to Malaysian children to prepare them to live in a borderless world with a strong Malaysian identity.

QI Group of Companies Executive Chairman, Datuk Seri Vijay Eswaran said the emphasis must shift from preparing the children to work locally but instead equip them with skills to face the world.

"Unfortunately we are trying to reinvent education as opposed to allowing education to flow through our borders.

"The reality is the universities today have education programmes without boundaries as it is all virtual and it has a lot of potential to be tapped into," said Vijay.

He cited example of India's approach to send their 'creme de la creme' to the US to learn valuable skills which in turn benefitted the country in the long run.

"In the beginning, of course it appears as 'brain drain' but over time, these professionals return home and serve their country," said Vijay.

He added it is vital for Malaysia to value its diaspora all around the world and open their doors in order to welcome them to serve the country.

Vijay was speaking to Astro AWANI's Editor-In-Chief Ashwad Ismail at the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2022 in Davos which has just concluded.
