Parents should remind their children about the struggle of the government and parties like UMNO, MCA and MIC in improving the standard of national education, said Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor .
He said for the last 60 years, the government through these three parties had been united in fulfilling the needs of the various communities in the country, including in education.
"I want to remind parents to tell their children the truth about the government's past struggles in helping to improve the education for every community in the country. Do not hide this from the children.
"They should know this history because it is the children who will continue our struggles and become leaders in the future," he said in his speech at the Excellent Student Award 2017 ceremony which involved more than 500 students from the Federal Territory here Friday night.
These students obtained excellent results in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR), Form Three Assessment (PT3), Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examinations.
The event organised by the Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan saw each student getting monetary awards in the form of National Education Savings Scheme SSPN-i of between RM200 and RM500, depending on their categories. - Bernama
