TOKYO: USA Gymnastics has confirmed that Simone Biles has pulled out of the women's team gymnastics competition at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

"Simone Biles has withdrawn from the team final competition due to a medical issue," USA said in a statement reported Xinhua News Agency.

"She will be assessed daily to determine medical clearance for future competitions.

"Biles is due to compete in the all-around final and all four apparatus finals later this week.

The 24-year-old Biles became the first woman since 1992 to advance to all six possible Olympic finals -- the team final, individual all-around final and vault, floor, beam and uneven bars final.

Though she led the all-around ranks, Biles was uncharacteristically shaky and nearly missed out on beam final entirely.
