UTeM student embraces Islam at Dr Zakir's talk

Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) student Senkiran Dharma became the sixth non-Muslim to embrace Islam during a lecture by international preacher Dr Zakir Naik.
The 24-year-old telecommunication electronic engineering student recited the syahadah (declaration of the Islamic faith), guided by Dr Zakir, during a talk by the Islamic scholar at the university last night.
The Hindu-born Dharma made the decision to convert to Islam after asking Dr Zakir about the concept of heaven and hell for Muslims and non-Muslims.
"Yes, I have been waiting for this all my life," he said when asked by Dr Zakir on his decision to embrace Islam.
Dharma also said he had been researching on Islam the past three years and also had a twin who had embraced to Islam.
More than 20,000 people attended the talk on 'Islam - Problems and Solutions to Humanity' by Dr Zakir.

They included Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron, Senator Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam, UTeM vice-cancellor Prof Datuk Dr Shahrin Sahib and the Melaka state executive council members.
The Muslim preacher from India is on a nationwide tour of public engagements that have drawn thousands of people.
He has held four talks in Terengganu and one in Kuala Lumpur before coming here.
