The massive mudslide, which occurred around 7pm, caused a traffic standstill for hours.
The Works Ministry will be sending a forensics team from the Works Department to the site of the landslide at KM52.4 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway to assess the situation, said its Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
He said Public Works Department (PWD) personnel were already at the location for clean up work which were expected to be completed by Thursday morning.
"What is important now is that, although the cleaning work is in progress, we want to make doubly sure that the stretch of the highway there is safe to use.
"Meanwhile, users of the highway are advised to refer to PWD's Control Centre and the mainstream media for accurate information on the situation and not depend on what is said on social media," he told a press conference here Wednesday night.
He added that the affected stretch would only be reopened to traffic only after it was determined safe to do so.
