KUALA LUMPUR: National women's singles player, S. Kisona won the 2021 Spanish International badminton tournament title, beating compatriot Goh Jin Wei in La Nucia, last night.

The 2019 SEA Games champion, who is back after a short break to work on her performance, bettered the two-time Junior World Champion Jin Wei to secure a 21-14, 21-19 win in the final after 31 minutes of battle.

It was Kisona's second win against Jin Wei, after having bettered the Penangite in the 2018 Thailand Masters.

Earlier in the semifinal, Kisona outclassed French player Yaelle Hoyaux 21-18, 21-10, while Jin Wei eliminated fellow Malaysian Eoon Qi Xuan 21-17, 21-11, according to the Badminton World Federation's (BWF) official website, www.bwfbadminton.com.

Meanwhile, national pair Tee Kai Wun-Teoh Mei Xing clinched the mixed doubles title, upsetting third seeds Callum Hemming-Jessica Pugh of England.

It was a 50 minute hard battle for the duo, before securing their first international title with a 21-15, 13-21, 21-19 win.

It turned out to be a double joy for Kai Wun when he partnered Man Wei Chong to bag the men's doubles title as well.

The youngsters defeated Lucas Corvee-Ronan Labar of France 21-15, 21-18 after a close fight in the second set.

Earlier in the last four stage, Kai Wun-Wei Chong eliminated Matthew Clare-Ethan Van Leeuwen of England, 21-11, 21-11 to advance to the final.
