Each time the sporting event is held, the spirit of the 1992 games seeps back into people’s minds.
On May 16 1992, the Thomas Cup was successfully won by Malaysia after beating Indonesia, 3-2.

It was a great win for Malaysia as the last time the country lifted the coveted trophy was 25 years prior to that day, in 1967.

Rashid Sidek managed to defeat Indonesia’s Ardy Bernardus Wiranata (15-11, 10-15, 15-8) however his brothers, doubles pair Jailani and Razik lost to Indonesia’s Eddy Hartono and Rudy Gunawan (9-15,15-9, 3-15).
