IF Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra al-Haj was alive today, he would have been 112 years old.
Born into Kedah royalty on Feb 8, 1903, Tunku Abdul Rahman, who is fondly known as just “Tunku” or “the Tunku”, was the country’s premier from when Tanah Melayu gained independence from the British in 1957 right up to 1970, when he stepped down as Malaysia’s Prime Minister.
Known to be a jovial character who was loved and respected by many, Tunku left behind a legacy that is still enshrined today – on law, on love, on leadership, and on life.
Happy birthday, dear Tunku. You are in the hearts of Malaysians everywhere, forever.
