Three people, including a policeman were killed in separate accidents in Bentong and Maran on Friday, according to the police.

In the first incident, Bentong district police chief DSP Zainuddin Abdul Hamid said an octogenarian and her granddaughter were killed after the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) they were in skidded and rammed into a wall at KM21 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway at 12pm.

He said the accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle carrying five members of a family which was heading to Chendering, Terengganu from Sri Iskandar, Perak was believed to have lost control of the MPV, causing it to skid and then spin, before crashing into the rock wall.

"Minah Hassan, 82, and her granddaughter Nabilah Qistina Ahmad Zaim, 14, died at the scene," he said when contacted here adding that the bodies as well as the driver and his wife both aged 54 and their 19-year-old daughter who sustained injuries in the incident were sent to the Bentong Hospital.

In Maran, a traffic policeman was killed after the vehicle driven by his wife skidded at KM145 of the East Coast Expressway at about 2.10pm.

Maran district police chief DSP Norzamri Abd Rahman said the victim, Sergeant Mustapa Abdul Aziz, 51, who was attached to the Kapar Police Station, Klang, Selangor died at the scene and his body was sent to the Jengka Hospital while his wife, a nurse, who sustained severe injuries was sent to the Temerloh Hospital.
