Terberg Tractors Malaysia (TTM), a joint venture between Terberg Group and Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd, has clinched a RM10 million contract to supply 40 terminal tractors to Kontena Nasional Bhd.
The deal would be accompanied by a service and maintenance contract worth an additional RM5 million over the next five years, said a statement from Sime Darby Bhd.
Kontena Nasional, a leading container handling company in Malaysia, recently clinched a tender from Westport to operate five quay cranes and was subsequently awarded the contract to supply the terminal tractors.
Sime Darby Industrial Managing Director Chong Kwea Seng said the contract represented a testament of faith on the part of Kontena Nasional towards its products.
"Our focus has always been to deliver equipment and expertise to improve efficiency and competitive advantage for our customers.
"More importantly, the use of quality terminal tractors in ports is the right way forward," Chong was quoted as saying in the statement.
He said about 40 quay cranes were currently operating at Westport and there was sufficient opportunities for Kontena Nasional to expand its footprint in the Malaysian ports scene.
