Doktor gigi diburu selepas penggal kepala singa

Seorang doktor gigi dari Amerika Syarikat kini diburu oleh pihak berkuasa antarabangsa gara-gara tindakannya membunuh seekor singa ketika berburu di Zimbabwe.
Walter James Palmer, yang juga seorang pemburu, berbuat demikian selepas dikatakan membayar AS$35 ribu (RM133,300) untuk permit berburu di Taman Negara Zimbabwe.
Singa yang menjadi mangsa Palmer, Cecil, merupakan salah satu daripada haiwan yang menjadi ikon taman negara berkenaan.
Menurut laporan beberapa portal berita, pembunuhan Cecil sangat kejam kerana haiwan itu pada mulanya dipanah sebelum ditembak dengan senapang.

Palmer juga dilaporkan memenggal kepala Cecil sebagai 'kenang-kenangan'.
Hashtag #cecilthelion kini membanjiri Twitter sebagai tanda simpati dan tidak puas hati dengan tindakan tidak berperikemanusiaan itu.
Satu petisyen juga diwujudkan orang ramai untuk mendesak Presiden Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe agar menghentikan pemberian permit berburu di kawasan berkenaan.
