Kesilapan itu dibuat sewaktu segmen tribute khas untuk Kapoor dalam program berita BBC News at 10, pada Selasa.

STESEN televisyen BBC membuat permohonan maaf selepas menyiarkan klip video yang salah ketika penyiaran berita kematian legenda Bollywood, Shashi Kapoor.

Kesilapan itu dibuat sewaktu segmen tribute khas untuk Kapoor dalam program berita 'BBC News at 10', pada Selasa.

Klip video yang disiarkan adalah klip Amitabh Bachchan dan Rishi Kapoor.

Ia mengundang kemarahan ramai, khususnya peminat fanatik Bollywood yang berpendapat ia sangat pelik kerana ketiga-tiga bintang itu mempunyai rupa paras yang berlainan.

BBC melalui penerbit program itu, Paul Royall, mengeluarkan permohonan maaf sebaik sahaja menyedari kesilapan itu.

Kata Royall, ia merupakan kesilapan yang tidak sepatutnya berlaku dan tidak menggambarkan kualiti sebenar stesen televisyen berkenaan.

BBC bukan yang pertama melakukan kesilapan berhubung laporan kematian Sashi. Sebuah stesen televisyen di India secara tidak sengaja meletakkan nama pemimpin Kongres, Shashi Tharoor, ketika melaporkan kematian Kapoor di Twitter.

Tharoor, menerusi Twitter, memaklumkan dia dihujani panggilan daripada wartawan selepas penyiaran tweet berkenaan.
