PKR deputy president Azmin Ali has denied speculations that he will quit from the party, and instead blamed Umno for being behind the rumours.

Azmin also vowed to continue fighting with PKR under the leadership of PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“I will not forsake this struggle,” he said. "To this people…[who spread such rumours]… carry on dreaming, " he said.

“I have no intention whatsoever of resigning from my duly elected position as deputy president of PKR.

“I will certainly not betray the trust that has been given to me by the people who have just elected me as Gombak member of parliament and state assemblyman,” he said in a press conference in Petaling Jaya.

The drama started off with news of him being allegedly unhappy over Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim being picked as the Menteri Besar instead of him.

There were those who even said that Azmin was on the verge of quitting his party posts and hopping over to join Umno.

These speculations were also fuelled by several tweets by Azmin himself which appeared as a veiled attack against Pakatan, and the calling of a sudden press conference.

The media conference, at first to be held at Hotel De Palma in Ampang, was changed to the PKR headquarters later last night.

Today, Azmin said he was not obsessed with the MB post, saying that he declined the post in 2008 after being offered right after the Permatang Pauh by-election. He said that if he wanted to, he would already have been the MB.

Azmin declined to say whethere he was for Khalid as Selangor Menteri Besar, stressing that he would stick by the party’s decision.
