The 2-Series Gran Tourer is here and here’s a list of what’s so special about the car.
If you’ve been following our Facebook posts you might have known that our Editor was sent all the way to the beautiful Croatia to test drive the 2-Series Gran Tourer. If you want to know all about his adventures in Croatia with the 2 GT be sure to pick up a copy of the July issue of CAR Malaysia, but first let us list out all that makes the 2 GT special here.
- Dimensions: 4556mm in length, 1800mm in width, 1609mm in height, extended wheelbase 2780mm.
- The 2 GT is more spacious by 214mm compared to the 2 Active Tourer.
- The driver will enjoy an elevated seating position to further enhance the sense of control
- Seats seven and boasts a pioneering level of versatility

- The rear seat bench supports 130mm fore/aft adjustment with a 40/60 split to both provide more legroom and comfort for the rear passenger or additional luggage space.
- Its 40/20/40 split rear seat backrests can also be folded down for maximum flexibility when transporting cargo.
- The 2 GT also has a luggage compartment space of 645-litres to 805-litres and opens to a maximum space of 1905-litres when the third row is folded down.
- We all know that the 2 GT is aimed to become a “mummy-car” so it’s not surprising that is offers three universal child seats while two more can be fitted in the third row.
- For the exterior, the 2 GT still sports the same sporty 2 Series front end with the signature kidney grille and brand logo but owners can choose to upgrade from the standard LED to the BMW daytime running light rings.
- BMW has given the MPV rear L-shaped taillights with LED light strip and aerodynamically shaped Aeroblades behind the D-pillars to help reduce drag and make for a more sporty rear design.

- Under the bonnet is a BMW TwinPower Turbo 2.0-litre petrol engine that when combined with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission that delivers a power output of 192bhp and 280Nm allowing the 2 GT to power from 0-100kpm in 7.7 seconds.
- The design of the engine is supported with a two counter-rotating balancer shaft which ensures smooth running across the entire rev range.
- Efficiency reads at 6.2l/100km and a CO2 emissions level of 144g/km
- Like the Active Tourer, the Gran Tourer is equipped with the advance front-wheel drive system allowing the car to be more versatile and functional.
- The 2 GT also comes with the usual BMW ConnectedDrive that includes the iDrive operating system that includes iDrive Controller and a 6.5-inch colour display and Navigation System.
BMW’s 2 Series Gran Tourer comes in a choice of Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Mineral Grey and Glacier Silver, while the Imperial Blue and Platinum Silver come exclusive for the Luxury Line. Interior upholstery is available in Leather Dakota Black and Leather Dakota Oyster.
Like the 120i Series, BMW is offering a five-years unlimited Mileage Warranty and Free Scheduled Service Program for the 220i Gran Tourer as well.
