Dengue cases soar among students, causing one death

Some 3,571 dengue cases involving students have been reported in the country between January 1 and March 2, with one death, according to a statement issued by the Diseases Control Division of the Health Ministry.
It said a primary school pupil in the Federal Territory had died of the disease.
"The total number of dengue cases nationwide (during that period) was 18,165. Up to 1,515 (8.3 per cent) of the 3,571 cases were primary pupils and 2,056 (11.3 per cent) secondary students," it added.
The statement said Selangor had the highest number of cases involving students, at 2,014, followed by Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, 329 cases.
