ISLAMABAD: The wreckage of a missing Pakistani military helicopter has been found in the country's southwest Balochistan province, the military said on Tuesday.
All the six passengers aboard the helicopter, including an army commander, died in the crash, the military's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement, Xinhua reported.
The wreckage of the army chopper was found in the Windar area of Lasbela district of the province, the ISPR statement said, adding that the helicopter was on a flood relief operation in Balochistan on Monday evening when the accident occurred due to bad weather.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in the crash, and extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families.
The recent heavy rains and floods have wreaked havoc in Balochistan province, killing more than 130 people since June 14, whereas 13,535 houses were partially or fully damaged and over 13,000 livestock perished, according to the National Disaster Management Authority.
