Top 10 Things That Made Us Smile This Week!

Astro Publication 03/10/2014 | 06:57 MYT

No. 1 - Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis welcome their baby girl, Wyatt Isabelle! Ashton revealed the name on his blog late Thursday saying, “Mila and I would like to welcome Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher to the world!” But then he added a game by including 6 baby pics in the post and saying one of them is theirs. Guess which!

No. 2 - The first statues from Paddington Bear trail are unveiled. Actors Benedict Cumberbatch, Emma Watson and Nicole Kidman, David Beckham and more are among the well-known names that have designed statues that will be placed in numerous locations around London.

No. 3 - Lindsay Wixson appears on Jean-Paul Gaultier’s final ready-to-wear catwalk outing dressed as Vogue international editor Suzy Menkes.

No. 4 - George Clooney is no longer a bachelor (which should sadden us all) but he got married to an equally sophisticated and gorgeous human being, Amal Alamuddin. We saw George and Amal party in Venice before their Saturday wedding and sealing the deal with a civil ceremony on Monday. The stunning 35-year-old lawyer wore a custom, hand-embroidered, diamante accented, French lace gown by Oscar de la Renta down the aisle to meet her Oscar-winning groom.

No. 5 - The Chanel Spring 2015 runway show was a spectacle to behold! Feminist charged finale with posters that scream ‘Women Empowerment’ with panache. Fabulous rainbow warriors in watercolour-splash prints and tweeds miraculously ignited with embroidery of multi-coloured ribbons and even classic Chanel suits with tiny silk flowers replacing the traditional braid. But we are smiling from ear to ear at the sight of Cara Delevingne rallying a troop of models down the runway recreating Paris Boulevard, feminist rally. Gisele holding a loudspeaker next to the placards reading “Women First” and “Divorce for everyone” caused much chuckling from fashionistas worldwide (We are sure of it).

No. 6 - Listening to Lorde’s new haunting ‘Hunger Games’ single “Yellow Flicker Beat”! “I’m a princess cut from marble” Lorde croons in the opening line, moments before treading down a darker path. It’s a song about Katniss Everdeen’s trials and tribulations and it brings out a sense of empowerment told through familiar woozy Lorde-ian beats.

No. 7 - Nicolas Ghesquiere taking over Louis Vuitton’s instagram. We got to discover Paris Fashion Week through the eyes of Louis Vuitton Artistic Director of Women’s Collections! Anticipating the spring 2015 fashion show last Wednesday (1st October) Nicolas Ghesquiere had his hands on the official Louis Vuitton Instagram account for a week and it was filled with an up close and personal view of the final preparations of his show! We discovered his inspirations and daily encounters – a true behind-the-scenes experience.

No. 8 - In aid of the British Heart Foundation, Brides Magazine unveils We Heart Heels auction, you can pick up a pair of shoes by designers including Giuseppe Zanotti, Tom Ford, Christian Louboutin and Charlotte Olympia. CLICK HERE to bid.

No. 9 - Kate Moss models the ‘Gemma Relaxing’ bra from lingerie collection that Stella McCartney designed to raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer. Moss was happy to use her posing skills and youthful looks for a great cause. The lingerie line was specially designed whilst cheekily integrating the famous BCA ribbon into the shot.

NO. 10 - We are smiling widely due to Alt-J’s recent cover of Sam Smith and Disclosure’s hit song “Latch”! I’m sure you’ve exhausted your Spotify replay button this week by streaming Alt-J’s new album ‘This Is All Yours’ over and over again (like us) and now we discovered yet another track to obsess over. The British band knows precisely how to strip down this electronic beat by adding subtle piano tones and deep hypnotic vocals we have come to love.
