The Carling Family in 1987
Black Bottom Stomp is one of the most famous Jelly Roll Morton recordings. Done in 1926 with his Red Hot Peppers.
Many bands have attempted not just to play this tune but also try to get the Morton band's feeling.
I never hear a band coming so close as these young Carlings. The way 12 year old Gunhild handles that tiny bell trombone in the Kid Ory styled approach and her timing in the ensembles is outstanding.
All together a masterful performance certainly thanks to father Hans' capability to train the youngsters the right way. Bravo!
