Kenny 'The Pitbull' Tse's trademark aggressive style is put on display every time he competes.

At ONE: MASTERS OF DESTINY in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, 12 July, fans can expect the Aussie to produce another explosive performance when he faces Japan’s Hiroko Akimoto in a three-round flyweight kickboxing contest.

“I have always won my fights through hard work,” the 24-year-old Team Ultimate Australia athlete stressed.

“I thrived on being the harder worker and the more aggressive fighter, but I have realized that you need to have that against the best guys in ONE and be smart, too.”

Although his customary technique earned him 39 wins en route to the K-1 Commonwealth Championship, Tse is still waiting for his first ONE Championship victory.

It’s not something he is too worried about as both his appearances came against WBC Muay Thai International Champion Kohei Kodera and now-reigning ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion 'The Baby Shark' Petchdam Petchyindee Academy.

Those defeats only intensified his hunger, and Tse has been working hard on expanding his kickboxing portfolio.

“I’ve never been this stressed out or nervous for a fight, but that means I am putting everything into it. I am excited about it, too. This fight is a big thing for me,” he said.

“I’m trying new tricks. My coach is teaching me everything at the moment, and I’m going to put it all together – spin kicks, fancy moves, new combinations – so that in the fight, if I need to change the game plan, I can switch.

“I’m not single-minded. I’m going to stick with what I’m good at and get even better at it, but work on what I’m not good at to become a well-balanced fighter, too.”

The Melbourne native knows he has to be at his very best as his adversary boasts a 20-1 kickboxing record and a repertoire of knockouts.

But “The Pitbull” has done extensive research and is confident that it will be enough to leave Malaysia as the victor.

“He’s got some good combinations, he puts them together well, and he has really good kicks to the legs and to the body. I’ll watch out for those and have a reaction for everything so I can get up on the points,” Tse added.

“I want to take his courage away from him and just show that I do have all the tools, not just my hands. I am looking for that knockout.”
