With pre-orders starting August 3, Samsung's newest phablet in the Galaxy Note range offers refined craftsmanship, top-of-the-line security, and immersive entertainment features, the manufacturer says.

An enhanced S Pen stylus, fingerprint scanning and iris recognition security, and a curved QHD Super AMOLED screen are presented as some of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7's strongest features.

A light and portable standing cover and design that promotes one-handed operation (despite 15.3cm x 7.3cm dimensions) are among the handset's revisions, while Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is expected to provide durability.

Its 3,500 mAh battery charges via USB-C or wirelessly, its front and back cameras are 5MP and 12MP respectively, while Samsung encourages users to consider using the phone's 2560 x 1440 display inside one of its Gear VR virtual reality headsets.

Unveiling the handset ahead of a new iPhone announcement expected mid-to-late September, Samsung is to open pre-orders for North American customers on August 3 "through select channels," with the Galaxy Note 7 in stores from August 19.
