Eva Mendes, previously the face of Thierry Mugler's Angel, Pantene, Calvin Klein , Revlon, and Reebok, will partner with US retailer New York & Company on a co-branded prêt-à-porter line set for a Fall 2013 release.

Eva Mendes has signed a multi-year deal with New York & Company to collaborate on a seasonal capsule collection of ready-to-wear clothing. The line is expected to draw its inspiration from both the actress's personal style and red carpet outfits.

Mendes will be taking a hands-on role with the line, which will be delivered to stores four times a year. The actress, who has previously modeled for Calvin Klein underwear, will appear in a series of adverts wearing her designs.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with such a fabulous actress, humanitarian and style icon on this new label," said Greg Scott, CEO of NY&C.

Mendes was also excited by the new project: "I'm thrilled to collaborate with the design team to infuse my personal style and aesthetic into this core direction. We've already begun work on the collection and the creative energy of the whole team is fantastic," she said.

Retailer New York & Company currently operates 519 stores in 43 US states, as well as its online retail platform. Eva Mendes, who rose to fame for her roles in movies including "Training Day" and "Hitch", is set to star in "The Place Beyond the Pines" opposite her current beau Ryan Gosling and actor Bradley Cooper.

We can't wait to see the fruits of her labor, although this isn't Mendes's first design job. The star has previously worked on the designs for the Vida by Eva Mendes line of homewares (sold at US department store Macy's).
