After being turned down by Leonardo DiCaprio and, on Monday, by Christian Bale, producers are courting yet another actor for the biopic on the Apple co-founder.

Negotiations with Bale came close to the finish line. Aaron Sorkin, who wrote the script, even confirmed during an interview that the actor would play Steve Jobs, but he spoke too soon. Now it's back to the drawing board to find the star of the biopic, which is to be helmed by Oscar-winner Danny Boyle ("Slumdog Millionaire").

Today, all eyes are on Michael Fassbender, who has entered early talks for the role. The biopic would allow the German actor to transform from the mutant Magneto in the latest "X-Men" franchise to the turtleneck-wearing tech guru.

Meanwhile, Canadian actor Seth Rogen ("Neighbors") is still in negotiations to play Steve Wozniak, the Apple's other co-founder.

Based on Walter Isaacson's official biography "Steve Jobs," the script is penned by Sorkin, who has previous experience bringing tech legends to the screen, namely as the writer behind "The Social Network," about Mark Zuckerberg and the Facebook story. The new biopic will arrive in theaters just a few years after "Jobs," the 2013 feature about the late tech guru, which starred Ashton Kutcher in the title role and Josh Gad as Woz.

Fassbender was recently seen in Lenny Abrahamson's "Frank," in which he plays the eccentric singer and comedian Frank Sidebottom, whose face was always hidden under an oversized papier-mâché head. The film had a limited release in the US.
