A total of 92 UMNO division heads throughout the country threw support behind Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob who had called on Malays in the country to boycott Chinese businesses for refusing to lower the price of goods.

They are also demanding for action to be taken against MCA Youth leader Chong Sin Woon for calling for Ismail Sabri to be sacked from the Cabinet for his recent statement.

UMNO Bukit Mertajam division chief Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir who read out the group's joint statement at the press conference said Sin Woon must explain his call urging the Prime Minister to sack Ismail Sabri from the Cabinet.

“He does not have any rights to tell the Prime Minister as it is his prerogative,” he said.

Musa who defended Ismail Sabri’s said the minister’s statement should be viewed in a positive manner where he had created awareness on the power of consumer.

On Tuesday, Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the police will question Ismail Sabri over his statement on Facebook.

The minister said he will give his full support to the police over the matter.
