Selangor UMNO has asked the federal government to abolish the Sungai Rasau and Batu Tiga toll collection on the Federal Highway to overcome the worsening traffic congestion experienced by road users travelling from Klang and Shah Alam to Kuala Lumpur.

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Noh Omar, said the least the government could do was abolish the toll collection for road users heading to Kuala Lumpur.

Speaking to reporters after opening a people's carnival here, Noh said abolition of the toll collection would reduce the financial burden of road users, particularly those travelling from Klang to Kuala Lumpur, who had to pay the toll and get stranded in traffic congestion as well during the peak hours.

Asked on the issue of sand theft in Selangor, he said the state government undertook enforcement only for a week after the issue was exposed and the sand theft syndicates had resumed their operations.

Noh asked the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to undertake an investigation to trace the mastermind behind sand theft in the state.
