An 90-day extension after the expiry of the Movement Control Order (MCO) is given on matters involving the National Registration Department (NRD), Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

“Due to the restricted movement under the MCO, the government understands all matters of birth and death registration for Malaysian citizens are delayed.

"Thus, the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) has decided to extend the registration period by 90 days after the end of the MCO and the KDN has also decided to waive the penalty payments," he added.

For those who lost their identity documents such as identity cards, Ismail Sabri said they can contact the NRD to make an appointment with a registration officer.

Malaysians abroad who have similar problems are also accorded the same period of 90 days after the MCO ends in their respective countries of residence.
