All the 19 schools in several districts in Terengganu affected by the floods early last month will be operational Wednesday.

Terengganu Deputy Education Director Hashim Mohd Zin said the schools had been cleaned up and their furniture had been replaced.

"Thank god, we have replaced all damaged furniture and text books and are making final preparatory work to receive the students on Wednesday.

"We have also replaced the mattresses and furniture of hostels affected by the floods such as at Sekolah Menengah Mak Lagam in Kemaman," he said when contacted by Bernama on Tuesday.

He said among the badly affected schools in Kemaman were Sekolah Kebangsaan Seberang Tayor, Sekolah Kebangsaan Pasir Gajah and Sekolah Kebangsaan Pusat.

In Dungun, the badly affected schools were Sekolah Kebangsaan Kuala Jengai and Sekolah Kebangsaan Pasir Raja.

"Thirty-three schools which were used as relief centres have also been spruced up. Their furniture have also been arranged accordingly," he added.
