A baby girl was found in front of a flat in Bukit Tinggi, Klang, early Saturday.

Klang South District Police deputy chief Supt Goh Lee Fook said, in the 7.30am incident, the woman who lived in the flat was shocked by the discovery of the newborn and immediately took her in before calling the police.

He said it was believed the baby was born about 24 hours before she was found by the woman.

According to him, further examination found that the light-skinned baby was wrapped in a blanket when she was left, and her umbilical cord was removed.

He said no other relating document was found.

"Police suspect the baby had just been left in front of the flat as there were no injuries found on the body.

"The police are trying to find out who the baby's parents are," he said in a short messaging service (SMS) here Saturday.

He said the baby girl, who weighed around three kilogrammes, was sent to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) Klang.

The case was being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code.
