The disbursement of the 2016 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) will start from tomorrow (January 28).

Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said the disbursement of the 2016 BR1M for households and senior citizens would be distributed in four stages in one year starting from tomorrow, April 28, June 23 and September 28.

Recipients under the single individuals category, aged 21 years and above, as well as earning less than RM2,000 monthly will receive RM400 as aid from tomorrow.

"This (BR1M payment) is to ensure the recipients can make budget plans better, especially in the purchasing of essential items," he said in a statement here today.

In the tabling of the 2016 Budget, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also Finance Minister, announced the disbursement of 2016 BR1M and the continuation of the Death Benefit Scheme (SKK).

For households earning an income of below RM3,000, the BR1M has been raised from RM950 to RM1,000 while for households with income of between RM3,001 and RM4,000 from RM750 to RM800 for this year.

A newly introduced category, namely for all recipients in the e-Kasih list with monthly income of RM1,000 and below will receive BR1M of RM1,050.

Ahmad Husni said the BR1M payment would be credited directly to the account of the recipients.

For those who did not submit bank account information, BR1M vouchers would be distributed to the recipients and could be cashed at any Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branches only, he said.

For SKK, he said, aid amounting to RM1,000 would be given to the beneficiaries of the BR1M recipients under the household and senior citizens category.

Ahmad Husni said SKK claims could be made at any BSN branches by presenting valid death documents and original identity card of the beneficiary which must be named in the form.

Recipients who had yet to update the information on their beneficiaries could do so at any nearby Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) branches, he said.
