Members of the public who brought babies and children to the Gathering 355 yesterday have contravened Section 4 (2)(f) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

Dang Wangi District Police Chief ACP Mohd Sukri Kaman said between 2pm and 11.30pm yesterday, police on duty at Padang Merbok and Jalan Parlimen here found many people wearing purple shirts who brought babies and children.

"Early investigations found these babies and children who were brought to the gathering to be between the age of seven to 15 months.

"The case is still being investigated and so far, there has been no confiscation or arrests made," he said in a statement here today.

The Gathering 355 held at Padang Merbok here yesterday was aimed at providing information to Muslims on the proposed amendments to the Syariah Court (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 or Act 355.

Among others, the proposed amendment include imposing heavier sentences on offences committed by Muslims and does not affect non-Muslims. - BERNAMA
