ALOR SETAR: Bus passengers are advised to report if the drivers are 'rude' and do not adhere to traffic regulations.

Kedah Road Transport Department (JPJ) director Aman Shah Hashim said the offences that are often detected among bus drivers using phones while driving, reckless driving and speeding.

"The public can report immediately by sending video footage through the MyJPJ application for further action," he said when met by reporters during a walkabout by the State Agriculture, Plantation and Transport Committee chairman Dzowahir Ab Ghani to the Shahab Perdana Bus Terminal here, last night.

He said the department would also conduct undercover operations in buses to detect unethical drivers on the road.

Meanwhile, Aman Shah said JPJ will focus on hotspot locations in Kota Setar, Kuala Muda and Kulim to reduce accident statistics involving express buses.

"I advise bus drivers to always obey traffic rules and regulations. Many lives are in your hands. It is your responsibility to ensure they reach their destination safely," he said.

Meanwhile, during the programme, which also involved the Royal Malaysia Police and the National Anti-Drug Agency, an express bus driver was arrested after testing positive for methamphetamine.

The man in his 60s was arrested after a urine screening test conducted on the driver found him positive for the banned substance.
