Harakah editor-in-chief, Ahmad Lutfi Othman expressed hope that the issue involving himself and PAS’ official news organ can be resolved amicably.

He said a solution can be sought out through peaceful means.

Ahmad Lutfi said, he respected both the Harakah board of directors and management but feels they need to understand the issue thoroughly.

“I don’t want to complicate the situation further, this matter can be resolved amicably.

“I’m not out to look for enemies. I only want to serve the party and the daily which is Harakah. I am a media person and this is my avenue to express myself,” he said when met by Astro AWANI today.

Ahmad Lutfi also explained he was ready to return to work and carry out his duties as normal as he has several plans for the Harakah this year.

His resolve to return to the office was strengthened after doctors informed him that he was well on his way to recovery from his illness.

“The doctors also told me that it would be difficult for me to apply for the invalidity pension scheme as my health was improving.

“An invalidity pension is only given to those that suffer from a serious disease or disability that is incurable, which ultimately causes a loss of income for the employee,” he said.

Ahmad Lutfi also hoped he would be given another position within the company just in case his illness prevents him carrying out his duties to the best of his ability.

“I don’t like to trouble others. I wouldn’t want to trouble Harakah and PAS if my health deteriorates.

“I am prepared to be given a different post of which the management see fit,” he added.

Several quarters had previously claimed that Ahmad Lufti was advised by Harakah board of directors to step down from his post and offered an invalidity pension due to his illness.

However a source from within the board of directors told Astro AWANI, they only held a discussion with Ahmad Lutfi and not force him to resign.
