UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein today said there was no pact between him and the two other incumbent vice-presidents to face the challengers for the post at the party election next month.

He said what bonded him with the other two incumbent vice-presidents, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid and Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, was their ability to work together to pursue the party struggle.

"The ability to work together has existed long time ago, not yesterday and not today. As agreed by Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid and Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, the cooperation that has existed is what bond us.

"This compatibility has been proven in many by-elections and the last general election. I believe delegates are mature enough to evaluate this," he told reporters after a meeting with Johor Wanita UMNO and UMNO Youth here on Saturday.

Hishammuddin was asked to comment on the contest for the three vice-president posts.

Besides the incumbents, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir, Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad and former Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam also submitted the nomination forms for the vice-presidency.
