A 40-year-old Indonesian woman was found dead with her neck strangulated with a pillow case in her rented house in Bandar Baru Ampang here, yesterday.

Police believed the woman, known as 'Kakak Pendek' by her neighbours had died four days ago based on the condition of her body, which was found in the bedroom on the second floor of a shophouse in Jalan Wawasan.

Ampang police chief ACP Khairuldin Saad said the victim was found dead in her pyjamas.

"Police received a call from a neighbour at 5 pm who complained of a stench emanating from the shophouse. A police team went to the location and found the body," he told reporters at the scene.

However, he said there was no signs of break-in or fight in the house, in which the victim lived with her husband, a Bangladeshi.

Khairuldin said police believed the victim knew the murderer and police were now looking for the husband, who is a lorry driver, to assist investigation.

He said police only found a savings book in the victim's bedroom to identify the victim, but decline to disclose the name.

"The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and the body was taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem," he added.
